Jake Blum is a committed advocate and rising leader in the legal profession, known for his energy, attention to detail, and passion for helping others navigate complex legal issues. He joined Shipman Wright & Moore after earning his law degree from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where he was recognized with the school’s top Advocacy Award and held leadership roles in national arbitration and negotiation teams. While at Campbell, Jake also served as President of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, reflecting his longstanding interest in sports law and athlete representation.
Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Jake attended T.C. Roberson High School, where he served as class president and helped launch the school’s first Director of Basketball Operations role. He went on to attend the University of Florida, earning a degree in International Studies and a Certificate in Sports Management. During his time in Gainesville, Jake worked with the University Athletic Association, including a stint assisting legendary football coach Steve Spurrier. He also studied abroad in Asia and Africa, where he focused on global legal systems, economics, and leadership in developing nations.
Jake’s legal experience is broad and well-rounded. He clerked for the Honorable Judge Frederic Block in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and later with the Honorable Judge Michael Stading at the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He also spent time with a sports agency helping athletes navigate the fast-evolving world of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), including working with members of the 2024 Final Four NC State Men’s Basketball Team.
At Shipman Wright & Moore, Jake brings a forward-thinking, client-centered approach to his practice. He handles a variety of civil matters, from high-stakes business litigation to family law disputes and contract negotiations for athletes. Clients appreciate his drive, clarity, and ability to deliver practical solutions with confidence.
Outside of work, Jake enjoys staying active, playing sports, spending time with friends and family, and walking the beaches of Wilmington—his new home.
